Is bond repair — Olaplex, K18 — enough?
What bond repair does (Gen 2)
Olaplex and K18 reconnect or fill some damage with single-bond or peptide chemistry. Real, but limited: one new bond per molecule, much of it where it can wash away.

The mechanism, in three steps

Damage breaks bonds in the cortex
Bleach, color and heat don't just roughen the surface — they break the disulfide and structural bonds that hold the fiber together inside.

Two molecules do the work: Aminalyl S rebuilds the bridges between separated keratin chains; Pro-amino X forms a new crosslink network via thiol-yne click chemistry.
